I've been trading for a few years using End of Day software (Metastock). I'm happy with my results but I am getting hampered by the fact that I don't have an intraday feed so I want to get that organised. I've been happy with Metastock but several friends (mainly US based) use Tradestation. However I'm a bit unsure as to the best way to place orders intraday. With End of Day trades I have my own broker and there is plenty of time to place orders but with day trading you don't always have that luxury.
So when trading do traders mostly place trades within execution tools in their charting package ie do they set up a single click system to buy/sell a certain number of shares? If I can do that in Metastock Pro it would be good to know and any advice people can give as to specific brokers I would have to use that would be useful too.
With regards to markets I tend to trade FTSE shares using spread betting so as not to pay stamp duty. I may have to switch to direct access and trade the US markets if I trade intraday but I would be prepared to do that.
