New here. My friend is an finance major and wants me to help him start day trading (financially im assuming).

Since i've been asked, I have spent a lot of time researching how it works, and have come to this site more than once, so here I am. I have accumulated a few questions in which I can't seem to find the answers to.

The #1 question I have it :

What is the best piece of software that allows you to buy/sell and track your stocks.

As in, is there anything out there that shows your purchased stocks, alongside real-time tracking, with selling options? Is it worth getting a subscription? I have heard about realtick. My friend also has an ameritrade account, in which he claims will be sufficient in handling day trading.

I took a look at the software guide thats listed above. It is blowing my mind, yet i am slowly trying to decipher it. I suppose a good way to rephrase my question is : What is a simple, cost-efficient, piece of software to use when day trading. The idea is to get in on the NYSE, and of course buy/sell all day.

The best and most helpful answer for me would explain what the process is to get a piece of software setup so that you can buy/sell quickly and easily. that would just be amazing :D

#2 question was answered, as I found a ton of books in a previous thread.
#3 is there a free place to practice this, without having to invest?
My last question is. Is it a good idea to focus on 1 or 2 highly volatile stocks? or try and play with more?

The #1 question is the most important to me. I figure playing with just highly volatile numbers, if you can't sell fast enough, you would seem to be severely hurting your chances at making max profit.

thanks in advance. Also, if i don't seem like i know ANYTHING about this, please point me in a good direction, as i am 100% willing to learn.
