Hi guys,

This is new for me as I have previously always been a "lurker" however I now need to pick the brains of those that may know. I am a local at the moment making good money in the bund. Having married an American I now find myself considering going to the US to start a family. I do however want to keep trading for myself on an electronic platform (obviously TT if possible).

Does anyone know of any trading arcades, such as we have over here, in or near New York ( wifes family is from Edison, not too far) ? To trade for myself do I have to buy a seat on CBOT or can I do as we do here? Does it work very differently out there?

I am enquiring from my prop firm here, as well as my clearers but thought I might get a quicker answer from you guys.

Many thanks for those who take the time to help.

David

I don't know about specific prop firms, though I do know there are several in NYC. Many are downtown, just outside of Wall Street in what is called Battery Park. There are also several in Midtown, which is north of the Wall St area. Edison is located in central New Jersey. Rail transit into NYC is very good from this location (at least for US standards). It will take you about 40-50 minutes to get to Wall Street, depending on the departing station. Edision is an OK place, Rutgers University is nearby. There are other towns along the rail line that are very nice, and can put you closer to NYC (and farther from the in-laws :) )

Thanks. If anyone does have some specifics I'd be very grateful.

Also on the living front any advice of where is nice and more importantly where isn't.

Yeah, that's a good deal.
Unless your trading there money(size) and there making commision off you, then I'd think you wouldn't be charged more than the commision. At the least, for they wouldn't seem cheap.

400...sounds reasonable. With Gbp being as strong as it is against the dollar, should be cheap.

I AM USING MY MONEY. THEY ARE PROVIDING LEVERAGE. IM THINKING ABOUT JUST TRADING MY SCHWAB ACCOUNT AND JUST PAYING THE $10 PER TRADE FEE.
ANY THOUGHTS?

SEEMS MOST OF THE COMPANIES IN NYC ARE SHADY. LIE ABOUT FEES AND WHEN I GET THERE I DISCOVER DIFFERENCES. IE. MOST WANT 1O% OF MONTHLY PROFITS AND .005 PER SHARE AND 200 PER MONTH FEES FOR SOFTWARE, ETC. SOME WANT MORE.
