Hi - can anyone recommend a trading course, preferably from a proprietary trading company or similar that offers public training courses? I'm interested in Futures, equities and CFDs.
By way of example, I would never touch anything by Wininvesting, instead I'm looking for professional training. Any help/advice would be much appreciated.
Regards, T

how in depth training do you require?

good prop trading course is given by futex.co.uk

thanks

I'd like a course that professionals would be happy to attend. I'll try Futex, thanks. I did look at many of the Prop trading organisations, though many either don't offer them or appear to have gone bust. Are there any other commercial courses out there that you know of?
FYI, I found a excellent though very expensive course (£10K) at the London Business School on Investment Management, though this is only 50% of my requirements. Thanks for taking the time to reply though.

If you can be a bit more specific, we might be able to help a bit more. Where are you at in your education/development? Are you brand new to trading? Having done some trading? Looking to change markets? Are you doing this for your own trading or looking to trade for someone else (bank, etc.)?

As for the LBS class, my first impression is that £10K is way too much to pay unless you're getting a guaranteed methodology that you know for sure you could employ to make (or save) at least as much.

Trekky, many of the arcades offer training courses. I know that FUTEX has already been mentioned. You could also try Schneiders Professional Trader Program

Thanks for your responses so far. I also don't think the LSE course is right, price aside. To answer, I've been trading for a couple of years quite actively, though have no formal training. I'd like to go full-time but too old to be taken on as a prop trader. Rather, I would like to work with my own funds but learn the tools of the trade professionally.

Don't think that your age is a barrier. I've just successfully completed the trader training course at Schneiders. I'm in my 30s and I was definitely NOT the oldest guy in the room.

I would still approach the arcades listed in the resources section of this website (below) and ask whether they have a training scheme

List of Trading Arcades.

Good luck with your search!

I suggest perhaps first to attend mentor rooms offering a free trial. They typical offer 1-2 weeks. Most mentor rooms will have a training session during the day. After 2-3 mentor rooms, you will have a good idea of what you are looking for, what is HOT and what is NOT.

Hi TickCOM, I'm curious, can you elaborate on this a bit further? Who offers such 'mentor' services?

There are quite a lot out there offereing free trials, try
Trading Mentoring

It also very much depends how you want to trade futures. Do you want to trade manually, automatically, semi-automatic, intraday, swingtrading, for a living or to add some extra to your income etc.

Has anyone out there attended these courses? The weblink you supplied look rather dodgy to me...

You are there to learn and get tips, not to go home with a fully working trading strategy making you a fortune. Attend as maney mentor rooms as possible, collecting idears and inspiration for your own trading.

You have to develop your own trading strategies and algorithms - dont count on others will do it for you - you will find that most mentors ends to tell you that the "final tuch" is up to your self.

Hi Richie,

The demo room I mentioned earlier in the thread offers a free demo room. Here's the link to directions to there free demo room. There you will find the 3 mentors trading live and you can see if this is what you're looking for. Good luck

Could be an interesting and profitable opening here for one or more of the site's gurus to run a week's trading course at an off-season hotel, Bognor springs to mind !

Punishments if needed could include dip in the sea BRRRRRRRRRRRR !

Hi,

Has anybody been through the Futex training? If so what did you think of it and how did you manage to survive financialy over the 6 months?

Kind regards

To be fair, I doubt that anyone would be drawing a reasonable salary from a prop shop course for at least 6 months, regardless of which one you join. If I am wrong and there is someone out there reading this who has been profitable to the point where you can draw a living salary in 3 months or less I would love to hear from you.

Sorry, I think you misunderstood my question. I know how much one is paid while they're training and still on simulators at Futex and prop hoses alike... However I was wanting to know how people managed on such little money for quite so long.

From my stint in the arcade world, most of us were straight out of uni and still living with the parents, hence living costs were at a minimum. I think if you have to pay bills out of your profits then that's too much pressure too soon for most guys - end up trading scared before you've really given it a go and learn't anything.

Ah... OK I understand now.
However I was wanting to know how people managed on such little money for quite so long.
From my research, the only way those of us who are not living at home with parents are surviving is by having enough of a financial cushion to not worry about P&L for at least 6-9 months.
