beginners advice

hi
i'm fairly new to financial spread betting. ive had a few goes on the GBP vs USD
some degree of success using the news announcments and events to help predict the direction of the currency. I then looked at the Uk100 index to place bets on but i'm unsure what effects this exactly?i know its all the Uk companies.
i know there isn't a way to tell exactly what it will do or we would all be rich but what generally effects it and where can i get subtle hints.
or should i just leave it allone and beton company shares?

Can anybody explain what is the e-minis, what is the financial spread betting and how they all compare to the forex broker.

Hello lads. My name is Paddy Murphy from Cork. I am new to this trading lark as well and looking for some help. I thought that buying and selling shares was the only way to trade. What is this spread betting. Has it anything to do with horses.Thanks.
