Hi,

I need to find a source for up to the date LIBOR rates. They are released every day at 1130, and distributed by Reuters. Presumabaly this means that a Reuters subscription will give me what I want, but I don't believe this to be a viable option as this is mega expensive and not available for individual use.... ???

The best I have found is on the FT website which publishes them at 02.00 the next day. Will I have to resort to using this, or does anyone know where I can find something more up to date?

Also, the data published by FT is in fractions, does anyone know why it is not in decimals?

Many thanks
Simon

They were on the Bank of England site but I'm not sure about the timing.

you can find 3-month £ and $ LIBOR rates on Shareworld - The Beginners Guide to Investing in Stocks and Shares
under market news column.

FWIW, you know theres a difference in the question asked to the contributing banks for LIBOR and EURIBOR

LIBOR: What rate will you offer

EURIBOR: What rate do you think you could get in the market

useless trivia. Particularly because theyre all lying fagtards* anyway.

LIBOR is the OFFER rate and LIBID (London Interbank Bid Rate) is the BID.
They are not actual trades but what the contributing banks say they would be prepared to lend/borrow to each other.
The SONIA (Sterling Overnight Interbank Average)rate is the rate that banks actually trade at.
Not that I understand it all.. seems odd that DJ quote US$ LIBOR rates!
Anyway you can see the 3 month LIBOR rates at Shareworld - The Beginners Guide to Investing in Stocks and Shares

Please advise. Thanks.

Did anyone find a good (free) source of LIBOR? Unfortunately I have been a bit lazy on the Shareworld site and it is still showing 7th July data! If I thought anyone was using it I would keep it updated!!

The best source for LIBORs is the organization that publishes the rates, i.e. the BBA... You can find many things, including the history of published LIBOR here, BBA – British Bankers' Association - Libor Home

As what SONIA and LIBOR represent, it's a complicated subject and not for this discussion methinks.

Good site, but the LIBOR rate (free) is delayed 2 months!
Is that as good as Shareworld: usually daily unless Raysor is feeling lazy!LOL

Aw, sh1t... I'm pretty sure they used to publish the daily fixings on the old BBA site, but I guess that ain't the case any more.

How about this then? Looks pretty good to me:
Interest rates / Money / Market data / Selftrade
That's good. I wonder if I can pick that feed up anywhere?
What would you say was the most useful rate for me to publish? It's probably one of those things that most people only get interested in when they mention it on the 9.00 News or something!

Not sure, to be honest... BBA definitely has ways to provide their fixings to Reuters and BBG as soon as they come out, but I am not sure what other arrangements might exist.

It's a difficult question... 6M and 3M LIBOR are probably the most relevant among the rates on that page, 'cause, ultimately, they have bearing on the cost of people's mtges. The best thing would be if you could show 2y and 5y LIBOR swap rates, 'cause those are even closer to the mtge mkt, but I am not sure you could get those easily if you don't have BBG/Reuters.

Thanks. Think I will stick to 3-month US and GB. Probably falling on deaf ears anyway

I thought it was Reuters that fixed Libor (I'm almost certain this is the case for Euribor too) and then provided it to BBA and Bloomberg... am I going mad?

You are are right Reuters do fix it. But the info comes from a panel from the major banks.

No, the process is different for EURIBOR and LIBOR. EURIBOR is done using rates submitted by banks to TARGET and then published on Reuters-Telerate, which is why it's sorta Reuters-centric. LIBOR, on the other hand, is actually compiled daily by the BBA and they publish it onwards.

OK, last comment: My info, which I get at 11.32 each morning says: 3month Euro Libor, 3month Sterling libor and 3month USD Libor. Purely academic but is Euro Libor the same as Euribor?
