Im Joe, 26 from Worcester currently studying a BA Hons course at BCU in Birmingham. I have been trading for 13 months on Trading 212 with a demo account, I started 10,000 in my account and have got it up to 177,225 and now feel i am ready to start using my own money. Is Trading 212 safe to use with real money? I am looking for someone in the West Mids (I live in Worcester but I'm in Birmingham most days) with more experience than myself for tips and anything i should be careful of when using real money.

Many thanks

Joe

Hi joe - you're probably going to have to give us a little more to go on before anyone will recommend anything for you. Trading demo accounts into profit is different to real money but for start-offs how did you do it?

Hi tomorton, I did it day trading Germany 30 (mostly) and using pattern and support/resistance strategies.I thought it was best to focus on one instrument rather than loads not sure if you would advise this?

Many thanks

I would advise this. Become "fluent" in the way one index or major chart behaves (using smallest possible trades if in real money) then add another when you're boringly consistent if you need to. Its like learning a foreign language - they say its always less hard to learn the second one, the third one is easy.

But DAX is a volatile instrument and I hear (I don't trade indices) its a bit fierce if you're trying to trade it short-term with real money.

Thanks Tomorton, at least in know I'm doing something right. I have noticed it is volatile. Have you heard anything about Trading 212? Do they have a conflict of interest and aggressively take the other side of your trades?

Many thanks

Joe

Hey joe

I would advise you go to a broker offering lowest micro accounts and play the dax live .....you won't learn till you play real money ....demos are in truth easy after a while......and the volatility is heavily fudged to allow demos to look good for newbies

If 212 offer such an account use them....otherwise research here t2win on those that do.......also consider using direct market access brokers .....

Cheers

Thak you very much, I'll have a look today.

Good job turning that 10k into over 100k. Thats good work! What I would suggest is you do a demo account on any broker you plan on using as well. Sometimes there are differences between brokers. Sometimes those differences affect the results of your trading styles and sometimes not. Its always best to assume it will when you are risking real money.

1st well done Joe . But never mistake a demo account for real trading experience. world of difference
2nd Never buy something from a tip. When it goes wrong the guy who tipped it to you will never be found!

Keep us all in touch with your progress?

Hi Joe,
well done on your trading results thus far.

I wasn't going to comment on which broker to use, however based on you making a return of some 1,700% I would recommend that you take a really good look at the topic of money/risk management to assess whether you took more risk than you should have on your individual trades. If you can honestly say that you managed risk properly then 1,700% is absolutely fantastic.

If you are not sure, then it would be in your interest to learn to understand this topic to ensure you don't lose real money that you don't need to lose.

Note that risk/money management is a topic separate from a technical trading strategy.

Again, well done on keeping at it for so long already and best of luck to you.

G :)

I ahve no experience with Trading 212, however there are many reasonable brokers around - for example FXCM, ActiveTrades, CMC, LMAX. I have used all of these in the past couple of years and was fairly happy with them.
