Looking to break into stockbroking

Good morning all!

I am looking to get into stockbroking and would like any advice that people on the forum could offer.

A little bit about myself:

I have recently graduated from the University of York with a 2:1 in History. I decided to go to uni to improve my career prospects. All my previous work experience has been in sales and I believe that this work experience, along with now having a degree, would make stockbroking both a rewarding, and realistic career option.

At the start of my search for work I applied for multiple vacancies and was surprised with the positive response I had. I was offered a position at CMB Capital but after doing some research I noticed it was an unregistered firm. They promised to sponsor me to take the exams required to work unsupervised. Naturally, I am highly sceptical that they would provide this training. Regardless, I am completely unwilling to work for anyone who flagrantly rips people off and refused their offer.

Are all unregistered firms bad news? The problem that I have is that I have no stockbroking experience and no real contacts in stockbroking. If anyone could offer advice or help I would be most grateful.

I'd also like to know if it's worth obtaining the CISI Capital Markets Programme certificate and if so, which modules would be best for a career in stockbroking.

There is no better experience than trying grey schemes. You won't just mark your time but learn ins and outs, pitfalls of stock brokering both for clients and employees. Just try to be always on the guarded, and don't sign anything that can make you accountable
