i am new to trading and have had a few demo accounts. i would like to trade ftse100 index and gold spot but the charts that the demos show do not have the volume bars and i feel uncomfortable trading without these volume bars. i asked the firm and they say.. you don't get volume for indices or commodoties ... i am pretty sure i have seen charts with the volume!! so not sure why i was told that it can not be had . anyway how do i get volume for the ftse 100 index and gold if my soon to be brokers platform does not use vol with these charts.

if was to go down the sharescope charting package route do you think would this give me the indicator i need ? however this does seem a expensive way just for volume but volume is important for me. any ideas?

any feed back would be greatly appreciated .

cheers

Hi chocabloc,
You do get volumes for mostly every instrument nowadays..... and if you trade futures, those volumes are the "real" ones from the exchange itself.....
other thing is if you trade spot forex, or CFD's, or instruments like that, those are OTC markets where you would get the volumes from each broker individually....
but you can get volumes for everything....
brokers with MT4, for example, offering the products you want, will show you their volumes with a simple click....

On mt4 platform volume is lots traded on that instrument at that broker?
Or number of transactions at that broker?
What does acomulation/distribution represents?

Hi,
Not being an expert on the matter at all, as far as I can remember, volume in the Mt4 is usually the tick count for the individual broker, so the number of times there is a tick change in any particular tf in any particular broker.... that refers to the volume MT4 has by default....
you can get a lot of different Volume custom indicators, that a lot of people use by doing a quick google search

:)

yep I was gonna say its Ticks being used .....

nothings perfect ;)
