Hey hows it going?

I'mm new around here. My names Luke and I am looking to learn about trading. I'm NOT looking for any tips or systems or anything like that, if i am going to trade. I'm going to back myself and pick the stocks or Forex myself.

what i need to know is the fundamentals. right now I have metatrader 4 and looking for some other programs too.

where would be the best place to start and learn about this?

Hi Luke,

Welcome to the forum. I see that you're using Metatrader. MetaTrader isn't bad if you're new to Forex and don't really know what you're doing, but if your goal is to be a professional trader then you should get a professional charting package. MetaTrader is limited and it is almost impossible to do advanced technical analysis.

I would recommend you use Ninja Trader. It has a lot more capabilities and is probably the best software package for a new trader. It's totally free unless you're trading with real money and you can do a lot of technical analysis. Also, the new version (Ninja Trader 7) allows for chart manipulations and free-flowing charts.

Hey guys,

I am new to the forum as well. looks like a friendly thread to say "hello" in. Since we're talking platforms, i am using Trade Station II (love the platform ...fxcm ehh). But that said, Ninja is great just don't like paying the extra costs. MT4 seems to be all about EA's, i tried to do some charting on MT4 like you said ... its tough on that platform.
 
Trade station is great, but if you don't want to broker with Trade Station it can be tough to justify the expense. It's pretty pricey.

Hi all,

Be careful of babypips - they have a forum page called "holy grail" which couldn't be more misleading, and thread creators can ban users from posting to their thread - quite shocking really as it leaves newbies open to loadsa scammers. If its too good to be true, then it prob is a scam.

Though there are a few decent threads on it.

I don't have any information about "Thread creators can ban users from posting to their thread" in babypips.

what a crap rule...well not so crap if you're a scammer.
 
Thanks to inform me about new rules of babypips. Actually, most of users at babypips ignoring each other and due to this putting cross question as well. Their comments and replies look like they fighting with each other and I think due to this Babypips introduced this rule.

If your not adding to the thread the post shld be reported, and if valid complaint it will be deleted, and the poster warned. This is a much better way of managing threads. The OP shld have no right banning someone from posting to the thread just cos OP doesn't like what is said. It might be true for instance.

I think its a terrible rule. They're the only forum I know of which has this rule. Its a shame cos there's a lot of good info for newbies on the site - which is what they promote, yet undermine it by having this rule. I suppose just stay away from the "holy grail" page.
