A friend of mine has some share certs. in Nutrition/Pharma Holdings and he's been approached by a Mr R Braun from Pierce Morgan US with an offer to sell these at 185,000 USD.

He had thought these shares were worthless....is there a catch with Pierce Morgan ?

The shares are worthless and he was scammed by criminals when he bought them. The same criminals are now trying to get more money out of him as they believe he's a mug as he fell for it last time. They will offer him a good price but will ask for a certain amount to be sent to them upfront to pay for a tax or other charge, of course this is all lies. Once they receive this money they will disappear with it and he'll never hear from them again. This process will continue until he either realises he's being scammed or he actually runs out of money. Either way he's never getting a penny from those shares.

As PB says, they're working an Advance Fee fraud on him, dangle a big payout but first he'll have to pay a fee to the brokers (they aren't brokers, the name is made up). Pay that fee and it WILL BE STOLEN.

It's as simple as that. Listen to us and keep hold of your money, listen to the scammers that are calling and get scammed.

I am currently beeing approached by Pierce Morgan Capital Management and securities Trading Board in a similar transaction. The shares I regrettfully bought back in 2001 had restrictions on them. Now I am presented with the oportunity to lift these restrictions by paying 30cents per share to retreive $6.20/share from funds held in governmental escrow account as the company that boutght them have an obligation to pay all share holders. Documents presented seems legit and the story is equaly plausible. After some investigative meassures through my trusted bank, there are a number of questionmarks to the transaction but they cannot conclude in any way. Their advice is not to transfer any funds as they cannot lend any credibillity to this transaction. I am still trying to find out if this is legit, but find my self at a loss of where and how to to proceed. Any thoguhts from anyone?

read posts 3 and 4 above for thoughts - you don't think they'd concoct an implausible story do you?

Valid question and the answer is obvious. I will not transfer any funds that is unsecured. However, I am searching for means to conclude either way. At this point I am assuming it is fraud, because it appears to be a classic case, and therefore not proceeding with the transaction. I have over the years become methodical and would like to base any final desicion on facts and conclusive evidence put forward by unquestionable bodies or institutions. In that sence I was hoping you, or anyone else, could point me in the right direction. Thx!

Of course its not legit, its a scam and whatever you give them will be stolen. Ring your financial regulator if you dont believe us, once they stop laughing they'll tell you not to touch this. Failing that go and look up the share price and see what you can buy the shares for on the open market, I bet its not $6.20.

try telling them that you're not going to part with any money but they can deduct twice as much (60c) a share from the price when they buy the shares from you as a handsome payment for their services. They'll have good reasons why it can't work that way, of course.

I don't think any of this is what celnick wants to hear, pb. Can't believe his "trusted bank" couldn't "conclude either way". Some bank to trust!!

Thx guys. I have reported the transaction to the Norwegian version if the SEC, Finanstilsynet. I will also file a complaint on the SEC web site. This is a very advanced form of fraud and these guys goes through incredible lengths to appear legit and provide credible documents. I already tried to get them to make an offset of the proceedings, but they do of course have a good explanation as to why this could not be done. Thanks again guys for sharing your knowledge and the references.

This appears to be another effort to obtain money from any original Pharma investors ( plus any others that I don't know about) Does the name ADAM SCHINDLER ring any bells? He is the one harassing certain members of our group to part with yet more money up front as tax in return for releasing and selling our Pharma shares. I am not a legal eagle, but I wouldn't touch this with a barge pole. I am convinced it is another scam such as those perpetrated about 4 or 5 years ago from several other ''artists'' keen on getting money from the original scamees. In any case the owners of Pharma have been indicted by the SEC but what will be the result remains to be seen. Good luck, but hold on to your money!!!!

Celnick and Jacualine.

'Convinced' is not enough because you're dealing with scammers with a 100% guarantee. In fact they're probably the same scammers (or connected to them) as first stole your money when they sold your worthless shares.

Take note: ALL and EVERY company that calls you either about your current shares or new 'easy money' investment ideas ARE SCAMERS. ALL OF THEM. Yes, they're often good (if you don't understand investments and are too trusting of cold calling strangers offering easy money) beause the money they make is big. But people MUST LEARN TO a) not to get involved in things they don't understand or b) to do plenty of their own INDEPENDENT RESEARCH into what they're actually buying and who they're really doing business with.

Ask questions here if you're unsure about anything, we'll help you keep hold of your cash and out of the dirty hands of the boiler room scum.
