I'm new to the UK share market and was wondering if anyone
could point me in the direction of some good share books that
concentrate on the UK market and focuses on specific stocks.

Stuff like fundamental analysis, most promising stocks over
the coming year, etc etc.

Just so I can better acquaint myself with some of the top
companies.

I've spent a lot of money on books, with a high percentage on rubbish. The one I repeatedly go back to and believe is readable, without needing a degree on everything from economics and accountancy to English literature, is Jim Slater's "The Zulu Principle" and I can honestly say that it has made me money. I am talking about share investment- not trading, but you will also need
a data programme like Sharescope, if you like charts, so that you can filter them. If charts do not turn you on, then Sharelock Holmes is cheaper, although I do not consider Sharecope to be dear- it's much cheaper than a magazine subscription.
