Im currently trying to get my foot in the trading door, and have been for the past two years. I've done some research and have been advised to get my certificate in securities papers one and two, 6 months sales experience and then go to job hunting for a junior trader position. Seeing as I dont have any capital of my own to stump up and start trading with, is this the best course of action?

Theres no right course of action. To start in an IB as a junior trader you need 2:1 in a numerate subject from one of the top uni's. They won't even read your cv otherwise. Elsewhere I think contacts, determination and a good deal of luck come into play. As for qualifications - they can never do any harm.
