I recently got promotion from Back Office (Corporate Actions) to Front Office as a Portfolio Analyst (basically, asst to Fund Managers providing analytical work and research. I'd like to learn more about the Bond Markets and Bond Pricing. I'm currently undertaking the IMC but would like more "plain english" tutoring. Can anyone help?

Congratulations on your promotion!

Can't / won't your employers train / explain things to you?

If not, you should move to a properly managed company which takes the training of its staff seriously.

It is all very well them getting you to sit the IMC, but if you feel that you can't approach one of the fund managers (i.e one of your colleagues) to sit down with you for an hour and answer any questions you may have, then I would take the issue up with your Head of Personnel.

Remember, your bosses / colleagues were all trainees once and had to start somewhere too!

If you're looking for a great book on fixed income, Christina Ray's The Bond Market is an outstanding resource. I used to be real active in the fixed income market and that was the best book I ever read.
