I have some stocks in US companies that I am told I cannot sell because they are restricted and that I need to ask a transfer agent to remove the "restrictive legend" whatever that is! I see that this will cost about $50-$100. Is that right? I also see that I need an "opinion of councel". What's that for and how much will that cost? Why should I need that?

Sorry, but you've been scammed by a boiler room operation. The stocks you've been sold are worthless and nobody legit will be able to help you.

However, you will be getting calls from other scammers (pretending they're legit) who will try to set you up with an advance fee fraud, ie tell you they can help to sell the shares at a big profit but first you'll be asked to pay a 'refundable bond' or some crap like that. Pay any money and it WILL be stolen from you again because chances are you're talking to the same scammers that originally scammed you.

Please make sure you understand what I say otherwise your money will be stolen again. No ifs and buts, what I say is ALL fact.

It's just an excuse to screw more money out of you. Next time it will be a 'tax' or transfer fee you have to pay. What is happening is that a bunch of fraudsters are stealing your money and they won't stop until they bleed you dry. Read the boiler room scam thread here on trade2win to see numerous similar stories. Whatever you gave these guys before is gone, don't add to your losses by falling for another scam

Can you post the name of the company you are dealing with? They may be well known already.
