Hello T2W,

My name is Ashley Henry and I have decided to learn to spread bet, I am attending up and coming seminars in my area along with webinars.

I know it will take hard work, time, research and knowledge to become succesful in this but the end goal is to quit my job and trade full time (Usual story there)

Finspreads is who I will be using to start with due to there 8 week 10p per point offer and have deposited funds.

Have just finished reading Sally Nicoll - Bets and the City & Michelle Baltazar - The Beginners Guide To Financial Spread Betting.

Can anybody recommend any other beginner educational books?

I hope to eventually become a valued member of this forum and a great trader.

You may wish to consider a spread-betting account with Smart Live Markets.

You can start at 10 pence per point and rise in increments of 10 pence.

No time limits at all.

You can also have a demo account if you so wish.

You also have the added benefit of the MT4 platform.

I would suggest you have a look at this.

Cancel your seminars and do more reading, every seminar out there is a rip off to some degree or other. The money you save can be better spent elsewhere.

Ditch the seminars.

The seminars are free, well finspreads have told me they are free and nothing additional is sold at the events. They are at finspreads head office. I have spent no money on the seminars however.

I have just checked out the smart live markets website, do you have to pay a subscription to use their tools etc

If you are talking about downloading the MT4 platform and using all the tools it provides, the answer is NO.

I don't know if Smart Live provides any other tools .. you don't need them anyway.

MT4 is free and provides everything that you will need.

I didn't say it was great.

It's free and yes, it is pretty good to work with too.

Hi Ashley, I wish you all the best in your quest to become a full time trader,may i suggest you take a look at traderpedia on here,
Its full of all the information you will ever need,its free and to top it all ,if you don't understand anything you can ask the wise people on here.
Plus don't forget to google it there are some great articales out there on the web.
Save your book money for trading as you will soon find out what works for one won't work for all.

Like you i use bollinger bands but it took me a long time to really understand them fully now i do i have found them most helpfull in all time frames and in any market.
Having said that i'm sure there are people on here that will say there useless and they may well be for them,but if it works for you then use them and that goes for just about every indicator,as we all seem to look at them differently.

The Naked Trader is also a good beginners book as well. IMHO
