Does this website cater for traders / investors interested
in stable long term uptrending stocks? Those traders,
for example, who look at weekly charts, not dailies.

Traders who might jump on uptrends like SVT, or SAB?

If not, where can I go?

there is no way to profit from long term trends

even after the longest bull market in history - all the long term funds including pensions have pissed away everyones money

but if you start a thread headed long term trading - i am sure you will meet some fellow aspirants

I think your comment may be a little sweeping. I don't see any evidence that all funds have long term zero growth over a period of 5 or more years. Besides what you think of as long term I may consider medium term etc etc. Oh and yes to the original poster there is much to find here - look for traders / posts on swing trading. This is trading on stocks / forex for periods a week to a month.

do a little check - its a considerable problem on both sides of the pond - but bear in mind in your analysis -that cash losses only accrue at the point of sale and the use of marking certain positions to market - there are a lot of time bombs sitting in staid funds

if you ever get into the position of packaging OTC products - it will be easier to understand the use and implicaton of these products which are far more widely used to shore up P&L's than realised

You short it at the appropriate time and keep rolling it over........

I promise I don't wish to be rude but I truely didn't understand a word of your previous post!

that cash losses only accrue at the point of sale and the use of marking certain positions to market

Could you elaborate?

if you ever get into the position of packaging OTC products - it will be easier to understand the use and implicaton of these products which are far more widely used to shore up P&L's than realised

Again - OTC - "over the counter" I assume. Which "products" are you referring to?

I'm sure you are making an excellent point that I'm missing but perhaps you might be able to explain it a bit more.

Thanks

yep - its that "at the appropriate time" which seems to be the problem!

most who do it - have the inapropriate time down pat - but apart from posters on here - no one else seems to be able to do it!!!

by the way - whilst warren buffet comes across as a "good old boy" - he has a shewd understanding of value - and he buys companies - not shares

sorry, that was the simple explanation - the real explanation is a bit more complex! - but when you read in the papers that people are getting pissed off that thereis not enough to pay all their pension money - and then their kids start to ask why they should pay into pension schemes - as there wont be any money left for them - you wll start to get an idea of the result - if not the cascading problems that allowed to deck of cards to fall
