Hi

I am a newbie, I am just reading books, articles, watching market and have been buying stocks on demo accounts for the last 3 months..... trying to get the feel of it and see what I can learn from all the experience traders here...

I was curious to know how did all you experience traders start with trading stocks... how much capital did you guys start with.... what markets do you guys trade in usually, how do you determine your pointers or anything that would be of some benefit to me or all the newbies....

Thanks & Regards :)

If you are going to learn you need just $1000, that's my advice for beginners. You need to try trading systems, as much as you can and create your own.

Good luck

Once you specialize in your market, stick with it until you are successful with it. There is no point from moving one market to another because you are not successful. Chances are its not the markets but you that is responsible for the loss. Of course I do not recommend starting off with the big S&P's or penny stocks. Find a liquid and easier market to begin with. One market I recommend is the dow mini futures or the S&P emini futures. I also recommend liquid NYSE stocks for day trading.

Need only one win strategy, but to find it you need to try dozens or hundreds. Who knows. Maybe second system will fit you perfect and you will be happy.

Pay attention to Money Management and Emotion Management!

I began with a bit of spare time, and a bit of cash left over from my student loan. Took a punt on a penny share, which turned good. Had a few sour grapes since then, but it's all a learning curve. Yet to get into FX, but it's something I'm reading up on at the moment...
