Hello. I am new on here and have recently been contacted by Shaw Capital Investment. Is this a reputable company - I felt their sales pitch was "high pressure".

If they cold called you using high pressure sales tactics selling shares then you can be sure it's a scam. Have you by any chance bought shares from cold callers in the past? If you did it will mean you will keep receiving these type of calls.

Can you tell us which shares they were selling?

Their website was created in February 2010 another good indicator if a scam. I'd be willing to bet their address is a maildrop or virtual office.

Yes they were pushing Greencell Technologies (GT5:F) shares. Minimum buy of 5,000 Euros

Oh and I didn't buy. Hopefully nobody else has.

Greencell Technologies seem to be a popular one, many boiler room scams are pushing them. I think some guys who got caught up in the Spiriton Media scam also bought into Greencell. Well done on not getting caught out but remember you will be getting more calls, all of them will be scams.

Hi, I put in EUR 5,555 into an investment with them. I think I have lost it. What can I do to report this, where/who can I go to ?

Sorry but there's very little you can do about it. Where are they for starters? Everything they told you was a lie, designed to steal your money.

Now, I'm saying this for you own good so please don't take offence. DON'T GET INVOLVED IN THINGS YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND, ie stocks and investments. if you did understand what you were doing you would have realised within 30 secs of the original cold call you were being setup, there would also have been many other clues which you didn't spot, such as sending money overseas to an account name that wasn't the same as the broker's. Please learn from your mistakes and in future stick to cash savings accounts. The investment world is very very dangerous and 90% of the companies and brokers love to prey on clients who don't know what they're doing. Contrast what I'm saying to how nice the brokers were, how they charmed you, how they made you feel good, yet they stole your money.
