I am new to trading.

Have read a couple of good books, know the basics...

Haven't traded live yet....

I really need a mentor or to go on a good course to take the next step.

Anyone willing to mentor me please?

Hopefully someone like one of the mentors who only charge a donationation to a charity or something reasonable, so that I know they are not just in it for the money.

When I want to improve my golf I go to the local pro who charges me £40 per hour.
When I wanted to learn to fly I paid an instructor for lessons.

Both these professionals were I'm sure "in it for the money." That's what being professional means does it not? If I had suggested a donation to charity in lieu of a fee I know what their answer would have been.

Why should a pro trader should be any different?

With that in mind, should people be asking, "If he's so good at golf, why isn't he competing internationally rather than teaching newbies?"?

What books you read?

Trading for Dummies
Futures and Options for Dummies
Listened to Optionetics

What are you looking at trading?
Options...
But I'm willing to learn everything I can...

Full/part time/hours ect?
Part time, possibly twice a week...

Take a look here and you'll see why.

This is the PGA money list. The best professional players in the world - yet the 226th ranked player is earning less than £50K a year.

If you think of the number of aspiring players in the world and the almost near impossibility of even getting a tour card then maybe this is why my pro teaches.

Understandable, but I'm new to this so i don't want t be taken advantage of.

What are your services and how much do you charge?

What about David Leadbetter then, he used to play professionally and when retired took up coaching, which I understand he's rather good at.

Wouldn't trading be different in that it would be easier to coach while still being a professional trader.

Who is the David Leadbetter of the trading world???

I AM SURE THERE IS A GOLFING FORUM THAT YOU COULD SUBSCRIBE TO IF YOU WANTED TO DISCUSS. CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH MY QUERY?

Even if was qualified or wanted to mentor I wouldn't want the responsibility frankly.

I suspect there are very few of those that can, that do teach, and if they did they would justifiably charge a very high fee.

There are enough resources on this forum to become a profitable trader.

Success in trading has to be earned through knowledge, experience and most of all self knowledge. Failure to recognisee these prerequisites can be foolish and very costly.

I speak from personal experience.

Belief is a very powerful thing. Get this wrong and you lose. Have a look at the EUR/USD thread over at ForexFactory and see how many traders lost big last week holding onto EUR long positions waiting for the rebound that never happened. In fact the EUR/USD had its biggest ever drop for 8 years.

The Golfer and the Millionaire by Mark Fischer is a great book by the way.

Full circle......

I don't play golf or wish to, or join a golf forum. I was merely following through with the golf analogy of you won't get a pro couch worth his salt for peanuts. and asking whether one would exist in our trading world of the like of Leadbetter, which I doubt, but worth a shot ...oh well.

...and don't shout ;)

First things first. I don't consider myself good enough to be a mentor.

Secondly, someone who wants to be a mentor must decide that the person being mentored must be worthy of the mentor's time and effort.

So, I suggest that you have some way to go, yet. I doubt that five posts on here is going to do the trick. Why don't you start a journal on this site, so that everyone can see what you are trying to do?

Good trading

Hotstock,

I would agree here with splitlink. I don't mind helping others out but of course, it comes at a price.

In return I like hard workers that will consistantly put in the effort even when the chips are down. I currently talk with a few others on skype but equally these are not new wannabe traders, they are active and we find that by crunching certain bits of info, we all come together to form a solid crew.

Start off maybe by having a few conversations with others on here or as splitlink has advised, a journal or blog of some kind. Fill out your profile so people can understand what level your at. Feel free to view my trading blog inclusive of screenshots of trades, this can be found on my profile page, just click on my name then view blog entries. There very simplistic and straight forward so wont take you long to read and are updated weekly.

Look forward to speaking with you around the board of trade2win.
