I have just received an invitation by mail to start a tutorial called "successful personal investing " from Independent Research Services [Ivan Elliott, MD].

Has anyone come across this before?
 
Wasn't he the guy who took interest rate to 15/16% - clever chap!!.
so 100 invested today will be 405 in 10 years. Catch a fund manager doing that 4 u.

I also just got the same invitation by mail to start a tutorial "Successful Personal Investing" from Independent Research Services (Ivan Elliott). I was just wondering if Reynard (or any one on the site) ever did find out any more about this??? I'd love to hear from you if so.

The Nigel Lawson endorsement is quite powerful - but I do want to try to ensure the package is kosher - so as to speak!!

bumping this up as i've got this through the post too. highly sceptical of course, but just wondering if there is anyone out there with any experience or knowledge of this? I have no intention of signing up, I'm just curious.

Also got another mailshot asking me to sign up to the Fleet Street Newsletter, a rather dramatic piece of writing saying these guys know what contrarian investments should be made now. More cobblers? Couldnt find anything substantial about them on these boards. Cheers.

regarding Fleet Street Newsletter, there are a number of pay-for mailings, and some can be quite expensive.
you can get free email newsletters from the following site. I receive a couple.
Electric Message (E-Letter service) - sign up page.
If you're looking for a few share tips, or more specifically, professional comment on the longer term investment outlook, I would recommend the weekly mailing of MoneyWeek [www.moneyweek.com].
I have been a subscriber for years and have no intention of cancelling.
this gives you the same type of info, weekly, at about £19/qtr.
they offer a free trial for a period. theres no catch.
you'll learn loads from this over a time, as I have. Its a real insight.
its run mainly by ex-city financial people, who have access to real professional opinion.
