I'm interested in the pitbull investor website but I can't find anyone saying anything good or bad about it. Anyone used it?

Ah! the pitbull ivestor!!
The pitbull investor site was started by a disgrunted ex student of mine who thought he was a better trader than the far superior West Highland Terrier. he teamed up with the armchair investor and developed the Raptor trading software.
Sadly they are still the underdogs compared to us far superior Terriers

Yes, they have inexpensive programs, and it seems to me have a better system than CANSLIM.

Yeah, I use it. Pure mechanical. Turns capital 4 to 6 times per year. Suggest strict position size. Such as 1%/3 ATR. That in turn would imply some diversification as a result. Not all will work out, but you're essentially "invested" in the best (on paper) stocks in terms of both elasped earnings and elapsed relative strength. Exit when RS, as published in Investors Business Daily, drops by 5 points or hits your MENTAL stop. Whichever comes first.

Hello efficiency.

Explain your position sizing model in more detail please. And, yes, i know what position sizing is, and how to use it, i just don't understand what you mean by 1%/3 ATR.

Regards and thanks,

John

What is the basic idea behind their picks? Does their system tell you how to do it and you do it by hand or do they pick the stocks and you just trade them? It's been a while since I looked at it and I forgot how it works.

The 1% I assume is 1% of account equity. I'm not sure how 3 ATR is used, can you elaborate?

Thanks for sharing your experience. I figure either not many people use it, or it's really good and people are keeping it a secret. ;)

On a different posting on this same website someone indicated they were up 18% for the year at one point. I know they issue their stock picks every Sunday. I back-tested several of their picks for a 3 month period and found approximately 70% to be winners of at least 6% within the 3 month period. The tricky part was the exit strategy.

That would be 3 times the average true range---if a stock has an ATR of 1.5, then multiply that by 3 =4.5--that would then be your risk (stop)--then divide 1% of your equity by 4.5 to get # of shares to buy---then place your stop 4.5 below price paid.

Draw-down

The draw-down , if you're in a bear market and trade options, can be large.:(
In a bull market, the system can be quite lucrative.
