Hi everyone,

I'm new to CAMSLIM investing and I noticed that AAII reports huge returns using their screener.

Anyone knows if there is another explanation to this incredible performance?

If I become a subscriber will they allow me to access their canslim screener rules?

AAII doesn't follow CANSLIM rules but picks CANSLIM stocks mechanically . They buy stocks on the list and sell stock that drop off the list. It is really amazing the returns they get and it would be interesting to see if someone added a few new buy/sell rules (closer to CANSLIM) if they would do better or worse. Either way, the bottom line is that buying the best fundamental stocks with high RS is the way to make the most money in the intermediate term.

I subscribe to AAII Stock Investor Pro (SIP) and it is the only screen you will need. All screens discussed by AAII are included in SIP and the methology is discussed at the website. I recommend a subscription to AAII SIP.

thanks for your kind help.

If I subscribe to AAII will I have access to their mechanical rules so that I know what creates those results ?

Also, can I use their screeners to backtest my own rules? How far back? And how much?

thanks for your pacience

Yes, there is a paper written by the AAII portfolio guy that described it. You can email him from the website and he will return the links or more specific info. This isn't a widely used program so I don't think he gets hundreds of emails a day and has responded to me quickly with any questions I asked.

The current stocks making the screens are listed on the site each week/month (I think you need to subscribe to access them). I never look at them but they are there if you ever want to see the stocks and are away from you computer with SIP.

There is 7 years of annual data and 8 quarters of data in the database. If you can find some old disks you can recreate previous years but old data is overwritten with new data each update - meaning you lose the 8th year when you update next year. You can save this data to text or a database and keep track of it yourself if you find someone with the old disks willing to sell them to you. You may be able to get them from AAII for a price but I have not looked into that.

There is a program that lets you access the data from Excel, C++, VBasic, etc if you are into programming. I have this and find it a great value for what you get - if you want to use it. http://www.qmatix.com/XLQ.htm
