The report released yesterday by the U.S. Institute for Supply Management showed that U.S. non-manufacturing activity in February this year, the 38th consecutive monthly expansion, the pace of expansion speed up compared to last month, show the momentum U.S. economy continues to recover.
The data show, the same month the U.S. non-manufacturing index was 56.0, higher than the previous month's 55.2. The index is higher than 50 representatives of non-manufacturing activity expansion, below 50 means that the non-manufacturing activity contraction.
From the fine point of view, in that month the United States had a total of 13 non-manufacturing industry expansion, including transportation warehousing, retail trade, construction, etc.; contraction in mining and other 5 industries.
The non-manufacturing sector provided about 90% of the U.S. non-farm jobs, the non-manufacturing trend directly reflects the health of the overall economy and the labor market. In February 2011, the U.S. non-manufacturing activity index had reached a high point of 59.7.
