This poll for scalpers only , i know it may different from market to market but what is the stop loss points averge for scalping method either order stop loss or mental stoploss ?

Depends Which market and what you consider scalping

Stocks DayT (0.5%) Examples: $100 a share gets $0.50 $50 a share gets $0.25
SPY Futures (2 for full-3 points for mini)
DOW mini (20 points)
EUR/USD (10 points)
USD/JPY (10 points)

+ spread ofcourse , what is your target ? and is it working well ?

If you're scalping you should be earning the spread!! If you have to pay a spread then your are completely underutilised and way behind the game before you even start (n)

I trade liquid markets so the spread is only 1tick

I don't trade with targets, imo its like telling the market what it should do next

Yes, it works very well, but you need cheap commissions for it to be effective

as a scalper how many trades u do daily 20 , 50 .... ? do u close sometimes @ few pips profit 3 , 5 ?

Somewhere in between that number & yes, I'm chuffed if i get 5 point movement in my favor. Read up about Paul Rotter and the guy who owns TT, haris Brumsfield or something like that his name is haha. They are the real scalpers who you should research about if you want to learn about scalping....

Search on Youtube for "scalping the dax"..a trader on their is kind enough to give you an idea of what scalping looks like

How many point on FTSE Futures. I agree with most of the above, although I use 25 points on EURUSD from a pivot level.

I tried 20 points stop loss for scalping but didnt work

20 points stop on FTSE will never work for scalping. Bear in mind, you are taking 2 - 5points profit per contract, so to lose 20 points on a bad call (inevitable!), you need the next 4 - 10 profitable trades to get back to b/e.

I reckon 5 - 10 points for stop, leaning more to 5 points and seeking better entries but with FTSE volatility of late, 5 points will get hit a lot.

Hope this helps.

I don't trade the FTSE but I agree with your philosophy. Your aim should be to attain a level of proficiency with your entries such that the market moves immediately in your favour.

I tried 20 on Russ2000 , i am thinking 5-10 points on ftse ( i use CS with 1 point spread on ftse )

I dont trade non-US markets (hours or equities) anymore I noticed when I did that I got to greedy for a while and was overtrading.

Yeah, I like staying pretty tight in most cases and I trail with half intitial stop to immediate B/Even.

I trade the FTSE and use 20 pts stop-loss, and make a profit. I target 5-10 pts per trade, but i say 1 in 5 trades i take more then 10 pts. My first and only trade today took 23 pts.

5-10 pts SL would be far too tight for my trading style

I tried 5-10 @ ftse but very bad got caught many times , after that i tried 20 point stop loss @ ftse , its good so far .

con-cur :D me 25pts on the in...... then slide in asap and run a few for good measure when offered the chance / opportunity

go behind me rule

if it proves a dud from off and assuming I do not get hit for a full one quick I always trade out on 1st reaction = never wait to see if its going to give me more than cost of entry (-3 +3 ish)

It never goes behind me twice

good luck all :clover:

Used to be able to scalp euro all the time with tp between 5 and 10 pips with a 40 to 60 stop. This practice doesn't work anymore but it used to prior October 2006 and it might work again one day. When the market is right i often made 35+ wins versus a stop. Thats 350 pips squeezed out of a 60 pip window.
