I can give my tuppence worth..
I've used sharescope, esignal, ninjatrader, amibroker, metastock, CQG, wave59 and now I'm using updata. Just to give you a some idea as to whether i could compare CQG to anything else.
CQG had really great charts and it comes with its own elliott waves rather than forking out for esignal's advanced get. For that reason alone its great, but its also the most costly. I dont think I could justify that price, and so moved on. I now use updata..mainly for the point and figure charts which are the best..and yet I've found it has some lovely features like scanning for technical/fundamental scenarios which is why I first used metastock, but much prefer updata now to all of them.
Each one has its pros and cons and in my opinion it all comes down to what you are looking to do. If its just to analyse charts, you dont need CQG, but then you may want something more specific. Let me know and I could probably tell you which one might suit you.
