Default Interactive Brokers

This thread has been started by T2W purely for customers or potential customers of Interactive Brokers to direct questions to IB (or indeed other members), in much the same way as Simon does over on the Capital Spreads thread/Spreadbetting forum.

The user "Interactive Brokers" is one or more employees of IB who will respond to questions and products related to IB and their services, but members of T2W are of course free to respond to any questions posed.

There is to be strictly no advertising on this thread, and off-topic or highly inflammatory comments may be either deleted or moved appropriately without notice.

Any questions please PM me or one of the other moderators.

I would like to trade only Bunds using a 15min bar chart with TA capabilities.
Can IB provide this? (the charting aspect that is, of course)
Thanks.

Yes they can.

Here is an attached chart taken just now.

You can add trendlines and various indicators to the chart, obtain back data etc.

Nasdaq:
Does anyone know what causes the charts from tws to display price spikes (too many to be just line breaks), these spikes are completely absent on charts from other vendors.
Also they do not appear in the time and sales listings for the chart.?

Samtron, please contact me with a comparison e.g., graphics, and the particulars you denote in your query, and I will look into it.

When you chart with IB you have several options of what to chart:

1) Mid price
2) Trades only
3) Bid/Ask

If you choose 1) or 3) the charts will display every quote even if the market didn't trade there. This might be the reasoning.

Hey, I was looking at the website and it almost seems a little too information-overloady for me :P
I am definitely very interested in opening an account, as I use Scottrade currently and pay $7/trade! O_O

Anyway, just to confirm...
New accounts to trade US Stocks:
$2,000 USD min. to open
.005/share commission or min. of $1; max of .2% of principal
$10/mo fixed fee.

If I initially deposited $2,000 would I be eligible for options trading? Long calls/puts is what I would like to do. Also, are there minimum maintenance fees or minimum trade fees?

Thanks! It's nice to have direct interaction with people who work for the company or have used it and recommend it I would call in personally but its pretty late here.. :P
