EOD data for Tokyo/Japan stocks for use with Amibroker

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a data feed for the Tokyo stock exchange that's compatible with Amibroker?

I'm willing to pay for it, but obviously I'd prefer automatic updates and downloading.

The following link provides a list of the data sources that Amibroker accepts. It shows which ones are automated or not. It's a question of determining which ones include Tokyo quotes.

Thanks for that.

I should have mentioned that I already checked the Amibroker list and have drawn a blank.

I also use IB and I know they have the feed you mentioned. The trouble is that Amibroker appears to support the IB data feed only for live data and only for Canada, Europe and the US (judging by their list).

I see that MSN Money has the data I want, but they are not mentioned in the list at all.

I have messaged Amibroker, but I was hoping that someone had been through this already.

Any updates on this guys?

Hi,

I don't trade Tokyo anymore, but when I did I found MSN Money did work as a free daily and historical Japan stocks data source for Amibroker if I downloaded the data with third-party software.

I used MLDownloader to download and create a Metastock database, and then loaded this into Amibroker using its Metastock plug-in.

I'm sure someone else can advise on better software than MLD, but having used this software I can tell you that it is possible.

I have a reasonably accurate Japan stocks symbol list for MLD if you want it. You can update it manually using delisting and new listing info from the Tokyo Stock Exchange website. Let me know.

I haven`t tried it, but instead of using a third party tool, it should be easy to do it via Amiquote, which integrates nicely with AB.

As I mentioned before, MSN is not in AB's list of data sources, so I don't think Amiquote would get if for you.

If it will, that's cool and I will stand corrected. But don't forget that you will need to pay separately for a fully functioning version of Amiquote if you didn't already buy it.

First of all: It IS on the list, It IS usable without registration (3 sec nag screen), and it took me 3 minutes to add 3 japanese stocks to my symbol list (Within Amibroker >SYMBOL> NEW>type in the PROPER symbols of MSN > SELCT TOOLS> AUTO-UPDATE> change the dropdown selection from Yahoo to MSN > ACCEPT the nagscreen >>OFF YOU GO!

Important: Symbols: Toyota for example is JP:7203, Konica JP:4902 at MSN, but AQ changed that to JP_7203 and JP_4902. If thats just due to my foreign character set-- I don`t know.

I believe you, Hittfeld, and I hope it proves useful to someone.

I use the standard version of Amibroker, and I recall that Amiquote was restricted to a certain number of symbols till you pay for it. So I think that is what you will have to do before you can maintain a full Tokyo stocks EOD database.

And I believe you wouldn't want to be typing every symbol in manually, so you'd need a pre-written symbol list.
