Default Commodity ETF - Will it protect my USD?

Looking for a vehicle to beat us inflation and get a better return on my USD than cash.

Can anyone recommend a commodity based ETF that I can trade in USD?

Am I wrong in thinking this might be a good way to go ?

I don't want to trade commodoites directly

Thanks.

*JDR* started this thread I should add, I'd like ETF's on a US exchange so I don't have to pay stamp duty.

Thanks.

There are loads of commodity ETF's suggest you diversify through all sectors, they will hedge $ decline pretty well and are likely to appreciate considerably more than that in coming years.
