If settlements are used to calculate p&l at the end of the day, and they're released at 2pm, if I buy below settles, will I make money for the day for sure?

Am I missing some information here?

What are settlements prices good for?

For cash settled futures, calculating what those who still hold a position after the close on the last trading day have to either pay or receive in settlement.

Before the last trading day it' s just a sort of "average closing range" price that is often used a base price which is reference during the next day's session to say whether a price is "up" or "down" for the day (session).

Yes, you will make paper money for the day, for sure...

You're not missing any information.

End of day settlement prices (not EDSPs) are references used for tallying of accounts at the end of the day. That's it.

I was reading broker ACM news and there is a new annual max for eur/usd.
Dollar is weakening…
Why???? I don’t see any announcement! How low is it going to go?
