I am looking to start out as a trader, ending my working life as a computer programmer, and have just opened a trading account with Inteactive Brokers. It seems abit difficult to navigate the IB screens and wondered (in a bid to shorten the learning curve), if anyone is able to provide a one on one (face to face) tutorial (which i will happily pay for of course).

My second question is Sharescope software, it seems very good specially the charts e.t.c Would it be a good idea to use IB as a Broker as well as suscribe to Sharecope, ....any thoughts.

Lastly, this is such a usefull trading site, commendation's to all that take part in answering questions such as this one, however as a suggestion, is it possible to arrange short courses in the UK (London), i think that will be more than a good thing

Hi Sehik

Further to your post.

I have traded with IB for some time now, and I'm a big fan of theirs in general as well as the TWS platform (I have no business connection to them whatsoever). Although TWS takes a little getting used to, and is by no means intuitive, the funtionality is pretty good IMO.

If you are an advanced programmer, then there's also an excellent API (you can use VB, C++ or Excel VBA, Java) for additional complexity. My VB is adequate and I don't use the API personally, but plan to do so in future.

Regarding charts, I think that it depends on how you are planning to trade. For my part I mostly trade Globex currency futures, and find the basic IB charts totally adequate for my purposes, but then there are no indicators, so as I say, it depends on how you are planning to trade.

Good luck
