I fear a major market and US dollar downturn so I want to buy products on the Hong Kong exchange that resembles the US money market or a stock , ETF , or fund that might best survive - maybe something gold backed would work for me.

Can anyone suggest such a product or tell me how to search for something like that ? Is there a screener that might help me ?

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks ,

Ralph

why not just buy a gold ETF ?.. I wouldnt suggest a US money market ETF if you fear a USD downturn.

Thanks a lot - can you tell me the symbol of a gold ETF on the Hong Kong exchange that can be bought through IB ?

SPDR Gold Trust, formerly known as StreetTracks, listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (Ticker: 2840)
sponsered by state street.

Thanks again BUT I have spent quite a while - even before you gave me the symbol - trying to understand that product - it certainly shows up as a product listed on the SEHK exchange and in HKD - but the "underlying Information" shows it as in the USA ( country/region ) . I am very new but when I tried to use the TWS (workstation) I kept getting information like it was to be bought in a US exchange. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. My account is not yet active ( funds have not yet arrived ). GLD seems to be the exact same product - sold in the USA. I just want to make sure that when I buy I'll be invested in HK dollars in Hong Kong.

Thanks again.
