Could anyone recommend a good broker that utilizes MT4 on a micro account? Is there such a thing? I'm currently using FXCM's micro account, but they don't offer MT4 with that small of an account. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!!

Thanks. Are there any problems with trading in the States through a broker that is out of the country? Tax problems etc?

Thanks for all the advice.

I just found out that FXPRO doesn't support accounts in America now. They told me that they are trying to focus on the European markets. I've traded with ibfx but their spreads are 4-5 pips. I'll check out some of the others suggested. Thanks for the input!

Stay firmly away from FXDD until they improve their spreads. Comparative on major pairs....

GBPUSD Alpari 2.5pips FXDD 4pips Difference 1.5pips or 60% higher
EURUSD Alpari 1.6pips FXDD 2pips Difference 0.4pips or 25% higher
USDJPY Alpari 2.0pips FXDD 3pips Difference 1pip or 50% higher
EURJPY Alpari 3.2pips FXDD 4pips Difference 0.8pips or 25% higher

I emailed them about this and the daft thing is that they don't even know what their competitors are offering in terms of spreads. Just don't think they will ever have any competitiveness unless they do this

For us (As the small retail trader), every pip counts so save yourself some pips and either use Alpari (or someone with tight spreads) or spreadbet (where pips spread on Cable and eur/usd are usually 1-1.5pips)

Both our MBT University site and our Metatrader pages include extensive information about using Metatrader with MB Trading. What is the purpose of the RSA Advanced Security key?
The security of our clients, their personal information, and funds is a priority to MB Trading. As a firm it is our responsibility to take all measures possible to ensure our clients security needs are met. The MetaTrader 4 trading platform offers Advanced Security authentication, which is based on the use of 1024-bit RSA encryption. All authentic data of the account, apart from common encryption, will be additionally signed with a numeric key automatically generated the first time a customer logs into his/her account using the Metatrader Client.

Upon a client’s first login to his account, a window will pop-up with a black area in the middle. The client is prompted to hover the cursor over the black area to generate the key. Once the generation is completed a file will have been created in the following directory C:\Program Files\MetaTrader 4\config. This is the default installation location of MetaTrader, but a client could possibly change this during installation. However the key file will always be in the \config folder in MetaTrader directory.

Clients will only be able to login to their account with their Master password on a computer that has the key file in their \config folder. However they can use their investor password (read only) on any computer. How can I trade my Metatrader account from more than one machine with the RSA Security enabled?
Clients may copy or email the key file to all computers they intend to use and drop this file into the \config folder. In the event a client needs to login using their master password on a computer not previously set-up they will need to call in and have a customer support rep reset their RSA key, which also requires resetting the master password.

I have very little experience with these retail platforms - willing to test out a few to see how they tick. Any ideas? As an aside, I worked for a US bank on their trading floor - so I'm not super duper familiar with retail trading platforms. I worked with one, spread based - simple to use, not great charting - not horrible either. Want to move to ECN and figure out the fuss over MT4. Thanking you in advance for your input.

I came across this thread today and I think that it should answer some of your questions and maybe provide an interesting opportunity given your desire for retail trading.

Seems like there are still some developmental issues, but something that at a minimum you should consider monitoring. A quick excerpt:

"If opening an account with an ECN broker like Dukascopy requires a minimal deposit of $10,000 and a minimal trade size of 1 lot, with FXOpen you can start trading with 0.1 lots. For now, FXOpen’s commissions are about 30% lower than MB Trading’s."

I'm still looking into it and would appreciate any feedback from anyone else that has also come across these new features.

hi
I wanted to confirm that it is important to have at least the option of small lots, because it may be too dangerous sometimes to use a high leverage.
So brokers that impose minimum high volume, there is something s wrong, since they might want you to take more risks not leaving you the choice. the trader should decide and nobody else!

Anyone heard of Deltastock. Read on e-forex for them . They claim their MT4 does not re-quote and there are no freezes on quotes and no Slipage. On also they say they have ECN with various banks and brokers providers. Haven't heard of this before.

Any comments suggestion welcome. Tks
