hey

I just installed quote tracker, because the charts in Interactive Brokers are pretty rubbish. I am trying to set quote tracker up, getting real tiem (or even short delays) on quote tracker, but I cant, how can that be done?

Thanks!

crap - i just realized quote tracker allows u only to go back to 6months in historical charts. is there any way i can extedn that without having to pay? and is quote trader better?

With IB as a datafeed I doubt you will be able to go back much beyond that anyway. How far are you hoping to go back ?

18 months maximum. any advice?

In my view it is highly unlikely that you will be able to get free data that goes back 18 months. Even some of the paid data services don't go back as far as that. Of the paid services I would think that eSignal is probably one of the ones that will go back that far. The other possibility is that you purchase historical data from someoner like disktrading which can be found from this link:

Free download - at least 3 years

18 months maximum. any advice?

If you just want historical EOD prices you can try the Yahoo site:

http://uk.finance.yahoo.com/q/hp?s=AMZN&a=09&b=18&c=2004&d=05&e=2&f=2007&g=d&z=66&y=594

which appears to go back at least 3 years and can be downloaded into a csv file. Some charting software such as Amibroker has an API for Yahoo finance that allows you to download this information directly into the charting program.

I use IB but not Quotetracker so I do not know whether they can take this feed directly or possible as a csv file

Bad news on QuoteTracker.

They decided, without prior warning, to cancel their free service with InteractiveBrokers and all other broker feeds.

Further, they increased their price simultaneously.

So what are the best low-cost charting services available to mini traders?
