MB Trading - why no UK accounts?

I have been looking into changing to a different brokerage for trading the YM. I spoke to MB Trading and everything sounded good - they had all the features I was looking for. But then they told me they didn't accept account applications from UK citizens. The list of acceptable countries includes France, Germany, Jersey, Ireland etc., and also some fairly obscure countries, but not the UK.

Why would this be?

I spoke to them a few years ago and they said the W-Ben was too difficult. When I said other brokers let their UK clients fill it in electronically, they just said, "ok then"..........
Did you ask them yourself?

Yes I did, and I phoned them again to confirm. Negative both times.

I could try again I suppose.

Didn't they even explain why?

No, the first guy just apologised and said they didn't allow UK accounts. Then I spoke to a representative on the instant chat facility they have on their website and he/she just confirmed it. Maybe I could have pursued it, I don't know.

By the way, you're just down the road from me. I live in Cranleigh. Lived in Woking until late last year.
