I trade CME IMMs and am now spreading into e minis on CME CBOT.
I have been trading through a REFCO sub, but am now opening a direct access account.

It dawned on me yesterday that I am married to Chicago and should anything happen in the Windy City, I would be unwittingly involved.

My question to you wonderful people is this ... should I be considered trading European based derivatives, similar in behaviour to the currency futures and who should I trade through?

I have never been one to spread trading risk before since it tends to spread focus and attention as well, but it is timely to revisit this decision.

I think it would be more appropriate to consider having more than one broker and a broker each in different continents, different countries.

A big drop in the Dow may be very profitable if you are short, a big surge in the Dow may not be profitable if you are long but your broker closes shop.
