Hi all guys,
as my nick suggest... I'm trying!
I began papertrading on monday with interactive broker and everything seemed to work fine.
Today, opened the tws and realized no data was displayed on the right side (bid price, ask price....)for symbols i chose, so Sierra didn't work nor my front end.
since i didn't edit any setting i think it's their problem but I'm not so sure.
Any idea about this problem?
Thank you all

Yes, simple ! When you set up the instruments you want to follow and trade, once you have done this click "save settings" and then your settings will be saved .

Eh ! Bravo !

Forza !

hmmm, The problem is that until yesterday evening everything worked fine and I'm sure I didn't change anything before closing. Anyway the fact is that if i write DAX in the underlying i can see all the value (bid, ask ...) if i type YM, ES or INDU i don't see anything. Why some works and others not?

imtrying ... have you made sure that you have moved forward to the September ( U ) contract.

If you are still on M (June) that would explain the issue.

what version of tws and what version of java are u running ... the help/about in tws will tell you this.

i assume u are running XP but perhaps not. are u?

I'm running windows xp pro service pack 2, tws build 846.5 2005/06/01 java version 1.5.0_02. In about 3 hours the market will open and i'll try again, let's hope

I think there may be a problem with the API.
I have Sierra running fine off Mytrack, but won't connect to IB, despite having TWS runing and updating ok.
Also TSIM won't connect to IB, presume for same reason (API).
These problems are unique to today.

Everything is working fine for me including the API on version 847.8 as it was on the prior build and 99% of those before that!

Yes Kiwi. my API is enabled. Everything was fine yesterday, inc June and Sept contracts.
If it's working for JonnyT, then it's a mystery.
I can trade without it for the time being. Only use IB/Sierra to remove spikes in Mytrack data.
Cheers both.

This is probably a silly question ... but have you got the API enabled?

Attached (if I can) is a copy of 843.7 ... a good ... slightly older build of TWS that you might want to try if you can't get these later versions working properly.

I seem to be having real problems today with IB. Keeps disconnecting - reconnecting - disconnecting etc etc etc

Anybody else getting this ?

My internet connection is fine.

Downloaded latest API and it's working again now. :)
A bug in the older version perhaps..

Why are there so many people having problems with IB?

I have read many complaints about them on the Internet.

I think a good quality broker is one of the most important issues for successful trading (outside of ones self of course).

I spoke too soon.

TWS froze and blanked out on me this afternoon. I had to kill the process and relaunch. It messed up my automated trading.

This may not be of any interest but I mention it just in case it solves anyones problem. I was recently unable to log on immediately following the down-load from Windows Update of ....
C Media Electronics Incorporation - Sound - C-Media AC97 Audio Device
A non-critical hardware update.
I did a system restore to the point previous to installing it and everything was fine again.

Generaly I find IB to be a very stable reliable platform.
