IB Price Alert System

Salty, do you mean the squeak that the IB screen makes when you are filled or is this some different whatsit ?

Ah ! Thanks Salty, I had read the bumff on the website but missed that.

I should imagine it can be quite distracting though. Do you use it ?

go to Tools and set alarm and choose your criteria-works very well-you can change the sound via Windows

Haven't yet used it Soc but I'll probably give it a try. It might help to cut down a little on screen watching if I can have the thing blasting off an alarm every now and again.

I have used it near previous highs/lows, bleeps everytime price is hit.

Ok if you are making a coffee.

What do you want to use it for.

For any individual stock I want to estimate the prices at which I think my particular set-ups may get triggered and set an alert accordingly. Basically I want to cut down the amount of time I spend staring at my monitor waiting for things to happen because I find myself losing focus and concentration if I spend too much uninterrupted time staring at a screen.

I use this and it works fine, though the user interface isn't the best. The audio feature can be irritating, as it beeps on every tick that triggers the alert until you re-open the alert dialog, and then it blanks out the field that triggered. But it does the job reliably, unlike some other tools I have used.

Let me know how you get on, Salty, I'm interested.

I have used it for being alerted when the price goes above or falls below the previous day highs and lows for the stocks that I am interested in. I just set it 1 cent above or below the high or low of the previous day and when that level gets hit, I am woken from my slumber by this weird noise that comes out of my speakers which are at high volume cos I may be having an afternoon nap.

Seems to work well though. I'll almost certainly use it for other price levels too as I go along.

The only drawback is that when the alert goes off, there is no automatic tea-making facility ( either mechanised or wife related ) that is triggered.

I'm working on that.

Yes, but how do you set it, and where ? The tea making facility takes care of itself if you send the appropriate signals. What you have to be mindful of is Limited Value Reporting or LVR.

Unsure if this is a serious question but if so then :

Right click on Underlying stock / currency code or whatever, Tools, Set Alarm, follow nose.

Turn speakers to high volume, proceed to bedroom and wake up only when alarm goes off AND wife brings cup of tea simultaneously.

Configure >> Misc >> Sound Manager >> Alarms

The sound files should be placed in C:/Windows/Media folder
