Hello, about a month ago, i seemed to have found the perfect stock broker, questrade. They have low commisions, you only need $1000 to start, no inactivity fees, etc.
However, they are giving me an absolute hard time to complete my registration.

They say that I need an attested valid id to complete my registration, which is basically when a professional signs a photoscopy of your driver's liscence for example, to confirm that it is really you.

But, this is what I have problem with.
My college told me they couldn't do it for me, I visited an accountant firm, they couldnt do it, I visited another brokerage firm here in montreal, they also told me they couldnt do it. Since my mom is a teacher, I put her name and signature, but they also refused it because teachers supposedly don't count.
So, I was wandering, If I just look up any random name of an accountant on google, put their name and adress on my application, and sign on their behalf, can I get in trouble for this?
Do any of you guys know if questrade, or most brokers actually verify, and try to get in contact with the person who signed your attested Id?
Thank You

DON"T EVEN THINK IT.
You are asking for a world of trouble here.

Peter

Well, as soon as you can log in to your account, it's one of the first things they invite you to do. However, in order to actually start buying equities, I need to complete my registration. Right now my registration is incomplete because of that annoying attested valid photo Id thing.
But you're sure it's a bad idea to just , fake someone's name adress, and say they're like, a notary for example, and put a random signature?

Am I sure?
You mean it sounds like a GOOD idea to you?

Obviously you didn't read disclosures and other information on what you need to do to be able to trade or there are other problems here... just get a notary to do it.

That's my advice.
