My question is: can we learn forex with free learning material or is paid mentorship necessary?

There are many articles, tutorials, and videos that cover the basics to advanced strategies. YouTube, Twitter, .......

My question is: can we learn forex with free learning material or is paid mentorship necessary?
Yes, you can definitely learn forex trading with the free materials available online. Plenty of traders have become successful by self-studying through videos, articles, and forums. Paid mentorship is not a must-have ;)

I am pretty new to trading, but I do believe you have to spend some money In order to learn a new skill, whatever that skill may be.

You can learn for free online. What will make the difference is the dedication, deliberate practice and focus of an individual. Most paid material differs from free material because it is structured, and you start from simple and keep on adding complexity until you mature in the craft.

The most important thing to learn about forex trading is the "trading" part, not the "forex" part. Most private retail forex traders are purely using technical analysis of price charts - if you can recognise a high and a low and a trend, that is your starting point, exactly the same as when trading forex or anything else that can be found.

After that, you need to set some ground rules to protect your capital - position sizing, stop-losses, exit conditions etc.

With money management, your TA will then grow your account.

I would say, for free is the only way to learn forex. Those who teach for money are not profitable traders. Otherwise why would they need to make money from teaching?

Maybe I'm quite impressed by the saying, you will never know if you don't try. Learning forex with the internet makes it easier to access various information, including about forex trading. Anyone can learn forex for free by reading forex articles, forex ebooks, YouTube videos, and so on.

However, I also see that there are traders who like to learn forex through seminars or from mentors, even though they have to spend money, which means it's not free. Maybe their mindset says paid-to-learn gives better results than free ones.

Back to each trader I think, if you have enough funds to learn forex trading, please look for a mentor who is truly a trading expert. However, if you want to learn for free, you can use a demo account to practice and learn trading.

I think that a demo account should be used for both free and paid training. After all, you don’t know for sure who is teaching you for a fee: a real practicing trader with positive experience or a scammer. Therefore, any theory should be personally tested in practice and only then decide to trade on a real account with such knowledge.
Yes, it is indeed better to find a reliable trading mentor, because there are many scammers whose victims are mostly beginners.
