Can anyone help.......

I recently installed Windows XP SP1 on my pc. However I can not access Websites running Java applications. Does this mean Windows XP does not support Java?

If you have SP1A installed then Microsofts Java Virtual Machine is removed due to court action by Sun. SP1 had the JVM included.

There are dodgy places you can download and install this from....

The idea is that everything should be developed to Suns Java standards then you could then just install Suns plug-in. The problem is many sites use Microsofts and are not compatable.

Try going to Internet options, advanced and scroll down, ensure that the sun jvm box has a tick in it. Reboot and you should be ok.

Hi Fillyerboots,

What you say is correct providing the site supports Sun Java. Probably most web sites do not, however most serious sites like trading platforms etc do.

For instance IB, D4F use Suns Java
