Back in the tech boom, this was the board - hugely popular, and fast-moving - the real pulse of the market.
Nowadays, it's a shadow of its old self. The format hasn't moved on, but most of the better posters have - to Advfn, Citybull, T2W and elsewhere. There are still a few worth reading, but an awful lot of trolls, multiple identities, ego maniacs and jerks.
It's still really the only board that gives that feeling of the instant movement of the market, as there is no organisation at all, just the stream of consciousness chronological ordering of the threads, with topics raised as someone thinks of them, and added to or superceded by whatever comes next - but with so few (sane) particpants left, it doesn't have the sense of excitement or the importance that it had in 1999/2000.
The layout is horrible, the search facility doesn't work, and there are some genuinely nasty pieces or work posting there, looking for opportunities to gloat at their own success or someone else's misfortune. On the other hand, others are helpful and supportive, but not enough any more - the critical mass has moved on.
