Winners not welcome.....
Was a great idea/platform until they floated and had the need to increase profits at the expense of the core idea.
A premium charge on profits was implemented if an user did not generate a required level of commission. An additional premium charge level was introduced in 2011 - once a user has a lifetime PnL of 250k they face commission on profit of 40%-60%.
This is in addition to BF being an active player in their own markets (Cross matching - arbitrage bot) and allowing some to front run and manipulate matched volume figures. Trading their own markets was exposed after months of denials, who know what else is going on before prices hit the consumer front end.
No longer a pure exchange, is increasing its "fixed price" products (better margins in traditional bookmaking) and is no longer trader/punter friendy in my view.

Overlays at this firm?
One poster said you get a chance to make book here which means you have to find overlays. What type of betting would you find overlays here? Horses or futures or forex? No one seems rto write much about them recently. Thats a bad sign. I hope someone can tell me they are making money with them!
Tradefair
Tradefair is Betfair's financial spread betting firm. They provide a very good platform and the support service is excellent. Executions are fast and you very rarely get a requote, on the whole best SB I've used so far (and I have accounts with 5 others - all dormant now).
Easy way to make money!
Wtih a decent system and some patience you can make good money on betfair.
I though I would give them a try about three weeks ago to see what all the fuss was about.
Using one of my horse racing systems I turned £10 into £144.
You definitely get better odds with them but you could also miss out on profits when your bets do not get matched.
This has happened to me three times during this period. Two were wins and One was a loss.
I think I will continue to use them at least until my account runs dry - if not I will continue to use them indefinitely

Excellent!
Once you get used to digital odds, this is a cost effective way to play FTSE / Dow on a very small scale. Liquidity can be a problem, but also creates opportunity. The patient gambler has the opportunity to make a book or pick off great odds which can remain on the board for a short period after the market has moved!
Bets can be as small as £2!
