The Market Matrix

I got an e-mail about that too. Price put me off. I don't think the previous offering to do with "secret" fib numbers was any good. I'd be interested to hear any feedback about the MM from anyone who bought it though.

Im very interested in hearing someone independent pass an opinion about this system having just heard an interview with Mr Copan - feel free to PM me...

Tim
Where did you hear the interview - is it still available?
Have you seen Tom H's web site? He seems to be a real fan. No faint praise.

I wonder how subjective this is and how many people will be willing to put in the work required to make it work?

Is it the same as the last trading method advertised, Nexus?

I am not likely to fork out £1,999 for this. Probably about as likely as Father Jack Hackett being the next Pope.

The system is being sold through Clickevents site also - thats where I heard the interview
( available to 'Traders Class' members ). I emailed Tom H at City and he phoned me - I also phoned George Hallmey - its always a leap of faith when buying a system unless you can see a hard evidence that it does provide an edge; but based on what research Ive done so far and what ive heard from people I respect there may be something in it...

Do they provide an audit of actual trades made by the system, and which CPA firm did the audit?

Nope :( - what Im after is someone whos bought the system and trades profitably with it....

I bought the Market Matrix in December, having attended Steve Copan's 1-day course in October 2004. My experience with it is 100% positive and am using it exclusively now as my sole trading method.

Just for clarity, the Market Matrix is a trading technique, not a system per se. The product itself is a 3-part CD-ROM set of tutorials, outlining the way Steve Copan trades. As such, it is by far the best workshop I have ever attended, and the beauty is that I can re-attend whenever I like by replaying any part of the CDs. One of the most impressive parts is where he nails the 3 January high to the time and price, yet there I was, watching it several weeks in advance. Amazing stuff!

In terms of trading results, anyone who’s gone through the CDs will understand that I’ve been having a ball with the S&P in the last few days as it bounces around levels that I would never have known existed without the MM. Incidentally, the two people with whom I kept in touch after the course have also been in on the same trades that they too found for themselves using the same methods.

I’m now able to plan my trades on any time frame well in advance and with complete calmness, even intraday. For me the MM has been a godsend though it’s taken a lot of work and a lot of patience from the missus! Steve Copan is a definite one-off – some say eccentric – but to have discovered all this you’d have to be a bit of a nutter, which ironically, is pretty reassuring because I don’t know anyone normal who could have figured this all out!

Is this the same Kevin Burton who spent £38,000 learning Copans Market Matrix trading method and then - instead of trading it - published it???

"Fortunately for us, we struck up a good business relationship with Steve over the months and bit by bit, he taught us his methodology, which has been the most eye opening experience of my life. Now Steve does not reveal his theories lightly and we had to pay him £38,000 ($72,000) to teach us. Paying that kind of money is not something we undertook lightly by any means, but what we had been shown in our very first meetings was so astounding that we were prepared to go to some real extremes in order to learn it."

Blurb from Kevin Burton (publisher of Market Matrix) and (am I bering cynical?) potential benefactor from potential purchasers of same???

cj - if the mods pulled it they are unlikely to comment. If Kevin pulled it it may be because he realised how stupid it sounded. I really don't know.

Though based on the comical quality advertorial he gives MM on the website it's unlikely stupidity is an issue...

I don't want anyone to take this as a general knock against the Market Matrix but the main "killer" profit example shown on their website just didn't happen. The claim is that Soybeans fell from 10.35 to 7.94 in one day. The 10.35 price was the high on 7th July 04 for the July contract. The low the next day was 9.41 (still a decent move but less than 40% of the claimed profit). This may well be a genuine mistake as many data vendors would roll the contract around that time into the next contract. July 05 beans were trading much lower than July 04 but there is no way you can be short in an 04 contract and take the profit in an 05 contract without adjusting for the difference that exists (with the exception that a spread betting company makes a huge mathematical error). So, although it appears on the charts it is in practice not possible to trade the move. Also the quoted frequency of this type of move seems a little hopeful. The last time beans had a move like this was back in 1997 and before that 1988. So you might have to wait for a while to get a similar mad month. I have no idea whether this product is good, bad or indifferent but the marketing of it seems to have overlooked some basic facts.

I'm not sure I like the insinuations going on here, but I guess it's understandable.

I was trying to be constructive and I'm only going by mine and my friends' experiences with this. Having been on the course, I kept in touch with Kevin Burton to tell him about my progress (and to ask plenty of follow-up questions!) and he asked if I would write down some of my experiences here, which I was only too glad to do. Obviously there was no point in him posting (as the publisher), hence why he deleted his original message. But the words of my post above are my own and reflect my overall satisfaction with the MM.

I just saw the marketing site, and my only thoughts are that it's what you'd expect from such an ad - I can't tell if I'd have bought from it blindly. I quite like that they do clearly state that the MM requires you to do a lot of work. It does, but for me it's been well worth the sweat.

I hope that clears things up.

What platform do you trade through robster4 ? - I understand from the blurb that one needs to do do significant work with historical data for each stock /instrument to generate a type of 'signature' ; which then allows fib analysis of some sort using 'correct' reference points- is this process something that could be done in code by a programmer ?

Has anyone herd of the.......

TORNADO MARKET MATRIX SYSTEM

Very good at parting you from your money, quicker than the market and you cant put a stop in!

Couple of months and along comes another.

Clarification

As I said it wasn't a general knock at the product, I accept that traders are finding it of use albeit with some serious work on their part. This is not a bad thing. To clarify my point, if any product is marketed giving examples of how well it performs, it really should make sure that those examples are accurate. In this case the main example's profit was overstated by 150%. If you had caught the majority of the real move it would have still be a very nice 24 hours but the fact remains that the dramatic gap down did not occur. On any method or system being promoted you need to talk to either the people selling it, to gauge their credibility and to those who are using it to check practicality. I for one would genuinely like to hear a little more about the methods if that is possible.
