So what is the equivalent to ShareScope EOD for US stocks ?
With a similar quality and price of course.

And when there are something like 1200 stocks on the Nasdaq
what scanners do people use ?

Skim,

is that a charting package, scanner or both

your reply is a bit vague, is it a stand-alone charting package
that charts as good as Sharescope ?

It is a charting package, with a built in scanning facility. I understand that the folks at ShareScope used TC2000 as the basis for the program, and there are many similarities between the two.

TC2000 has 8,000-odd stocks, with a very powerful scanning facility to scan for almost anything EOD, using both inbuilt and design-your-own scans.

It is £18.26 per month according to my latest credit card statement.

OK thanks for that Skim,

while on the subject i was told that RMBS closed the gap on Friday
A gap that dated back to 2001 me thinks - i cant see a gap on some web based charts
can you see one with TC2000 ?

and did you get these....

TC2000.com Stock Market CD-ROM absolutely free of charge
FREE CD-ROM Video "Finding and Analyzing Stocks on Your PC"
· FREE 3-hour Training Class in a City Near You
· FREE Charting Lesson Archive

RMBS doesn't seem to gap much historically, so on TC2000 you cannot really see the gap although you can 'see' that it is there. It's a bit like the Dow not gapping on charts, although in practice it does.

Not sure how this graphic will come out, but here it is:

You get all those things if you are in the US - if you are overseas as we are you have to pay $10 shipping for the CD and stuff which includes the training video on CD. Well, that was true when I signed up but that was quite a few years ago.

forgot to mention the close of gap was said to be around $30

anyway here's a comment from Mark "FtseBeater" about TC2000...

As a technical analysis program, the trendline drawings are hard to do and it doesn’t have any Fibonacci tools but as I say it is a scanning program and not a technical analysis product.

Any comments on that skim - (TA is all about drawing lines and Fib)

And if its only EOD you'd still need another scanner to find those premarket gaps

Then perhaps it would have been more helpful if you had worded your question more precisely to ask about a premarket gap scanner.

My copy of TC2000 has the ability to draw:
trendlines
linear regression trendlines
horizontal trendlines
vertical trendlines
fibonacci arcs
fibonacci fans
fibonacci retracements

Hi Colinriche

I stand by what I say, although it looks like they've added Fib tools :cheesy:
To be honest, I've yet to find a product that comes close to Sharescope, which is a testimony to how good the program is. TC2000 is the next best thing IMHO

Yes it is EOD based, but if you want a pre-market scanner then there are a few good ones around for free. My personal favourite is CBSMarketwatch Scanner Which will find gappers, about 2 minutes in to the trading day.

HTH

I like TC2000 as an EOD charting package.
I enjoy being able to make up my own folders to keep an eye on stocks that might start setting themselves up at some stage.

I also like flipping through all the sectors to see if any of those look good.I use slide show to zip through lots of charts. This function automatically scans every chart for 2 seconds and then moves on.If i see something good i hit escape to view the chart in more detail.

On RMBS i picked that up pre market on my tradestation Hotlists and posted elsewhere on the web before the open that i was looking at it.

I then checked out the action on my level 2 screen 20 mins before Fridays open by removing all the old market maker quotes and just watching ARCA INCA ISLD by using the software to create one giant ecn book. This was invaluable to get a picture as to how they were playing the stock pre market and how they felt about it.
I can tell you they were really keen. The rest is history that keenness spilled over into the open and it continued its rise.
