I hoped I could google for a decent metatrader broker which trades all the major indices and forex. Unfortunately the information I have found has been outdated and has a very mixed of views.

They all start off very well then end up badly (and then sometimes good again with updated services) - however people can be very bias when they lose money to brokers and just warn people away.

Anyways, back to my question.

I am looking for a metatrader broker (spreadbetting) with the ability to trade forex and indices(DAX, DOW + FTSE mainly).

I have found one or two (north finance and odl securities). I was wondering if there are any people out there which have views on these companies or others; regarding to slippage/requoting, application procedure, data feeds, customer service etc etc.

I'd really like to have a British broker so I can phone them if needed.

Any replies would be very helpful.

Phil.

Thanks. Although this only provides commodities and YM. I finally found the link for the demo for north finance although I couldn't log onto the demo server which is very strange.

and forget ODL securities for meta/indices. See the thread in spreadbet section.

I used their demo for a while, found it slower to load up compared to broco and alpari.

Yes, I read some pretty bad stuff about ODL - better steer clear of that.

North Finance has a pretty good list of stuff, but just the american indices. I'm tempted to go with Broco, but they charge you a commision AND spread per trade... Very good fills though I hear.

Hi all,

Sorry for being thick, dont know much about metatrader. i spreadbet indices, but would like to get volume on intraday charts, is this possible......

If i use metatrader with fxpro or a other spreadbetter ex. ig will that give me real time volume?

Thanks

Kev

Don't know about the others, but i have IGIndex and they don't show intraday volumes on the charts.

Ive now got metatrader and have volume. can you get 2,3 min time frames? is there a good meta forum that any1 knows?

Go the the official MTQ site. Then theres a community. If you still can't find it i'll dig up the link.

glad somebody bumped this thread.

what specific "bad stuff"? can you give examples.
I have been reviewing ODL as an all-in-one "MT4/SB/UK-based/low-margin" option.

is Fxpro a better option? thanks

I`ve been using FxPro for a few weeks and so far so good. some requotes but on the whole acceptable. Forex, oil ( 3pt spread) Mini dow and a few US stocks. I don`t keep a lot of money with them as I haven`t tried to pull any out yet.

Decided to go for ODL, just the online website not the metatrader platform, sorry trendie.
Very tight spreads, so far very good + excellent staff.

Good luck.

bad stuff: look in the spread betting section and there is a ODL thread. Last few pages is quite bad. Not sure if it's just people angry at losing money.

i do my metatrader indextrading with activtrades, no complaints so far, i´m quite happy with them.

Do they show longer term charts of the indices ( >200 days)? I used to have the cash indices - but lost those partially. Just wonder, if its just me, before I give them a ring.

Thanks
