Hi there,
I am new to the software world and basically what I am looking for is a software with a technical screener included. Basically I need to be able to set up a system which works out the difference between opening and closing of the last day or the 10 last days (mean of that) then gives me a signal when intraday real time the stock raised or fell by this an percentage of this amount and the gives me a signal. So what I do not get out of the software packages what are out there (esignal, metastock, omnitrader....) is if I can set up my own screening only accorrding o EOD data or also real time.

Could anyone help my out and let me know what I shoul get? I did raised this question in another section here and I Don told:

Hi cosmo, You could try http://www.prorealtime.com/en/ it has a technical screener, which you could write up your own search, from what you have described above it looks possible on this platform, free to use for daily timeframes and above, costly for intraday. also has backtesting function.

I would appreciate some more thoughts on that. Prorealtime would cost me for London Stock Exchange about 100$ per month and its server based, so I like it and I think it could do the job, but can this scenario be done also with other software packages . Looking forward to your helping hand !!!!!

Try http://www.amibroker.com/

Look at their AFL library and AFL Reference for details of the formula language, which will allow you to produce the formula you specified.

Look at their homepage for all the data feeds they accept (incuding free yahoo EOD if you wanted to try it out).

Under their download menu you can also look at the manual. Look at the alerts functionality.

It's fairly cheap as a one-off purchase price and you can choose which datafeeds suit.

Having said that most well known charting software will do the kind of thing you want

Thanks for that, was looking into it, however I cant figgure out what are the main differences between prorealtime and amnitrader.

However EOD date would not work as far as I understand since I need the signal produced intraday, on the spot. Also I understand that real time data costs, but why is real time data from Quote Tracker free (and which ones?), while the others cost, is there catch...they mention Quote Tracker offers "nearly" real time. What does that mean?

As far as I could figgure out, prorealtime and amnitrader is about the same when it comes to pricing (one off at amnitrader plus real time data feed, prorealtime monthly signup plus monthly data feed), so the free real time option from amnitrader plus Quote Tracker would only be worth it in terms of pricing.

Could you guys please mention a few pros and cons of amnitrader and prorealtime?

Thanks very much

You wont find any free realtime systems as London Stock Exchange charge plenty for the data link
