Star Trader - MCI technologies

Veronica,

There were an number of threads concerning this company that had to be deleted because their lawyers didn't like the sound of what their ex- and prospective customers had to say about them and so they started to brandish a big stick at Trade2Win.

This is the only one I can find that is left.

However I can safely say that the consensus was to avoid this company and their products like the plague.

Thank you - I believe you have save me some grief. I have been considering Trend Signel - Do you know anything about them - I am a novice trader.

Regards

I had some sales guy from MCI who claimed not to be a sales guy trying extremely hard to sell me this product... super high pressure sales techniques, made me think of some of these boiler rooms that phone me up from time to time.

Obviously I was never going to buy anything but I was bored at the time and let him play his sales patter out and even give me an online demo of the product. Suffice to say it looked like an amateur with a crayon had knocked together a crude charting package in VB and created some sort of traffic light effect for when several different indicators line up. The idea being when they are all green you buy a stock, blah blah blah.

They made some ludicrous claims about its accuracy and at the end of the presentation i tightened the thumbscrews on the credibility of their "backtesting" and how they could even make such claims without any statements to back them up.

Additionally there were no money back guarantees and no trial periods.

Draw your own conclusions.

I hate to admit it but I bought the star trader program many years ago when it was called The Blue Chip Trader. It has taken me these many years to recover from the cost of that program and be in a position to trade again!

IT IS UTTER CRAP!!! Do not buy it.

Cheers,

I had dealings with them a few years ago...their glossy and vacuous sales "literature" should be enough to put anyone off

Yes, I agree with Pipp the sales brochure should make anyone want to puke.

Veronica, if you do buy it (or any other software that is marketed like MCI) don't go crying to anyone when your 'dreams' turn into nightmares because we all warned you.

star trader - mci

having just received a mailshot from MCI on star trader, I thought I would search the good old T2W forums on the subject.
you guys have confirmed what I suspected.
after reading the rather vague intro, the alarm bell rang louder when there was no mention of a product price.
only a freefone 0800 number on which to set myself up for the hard-sell.
looks like mci are constantly trawling the market.
this is the third I've had over the last few years.
they haven't given up !

why would they give up? They make their money from the stupid and the ignorant........can be a lucrative market to be in

absolutely - its the only winning system that they have! :D

They have been around for a long time. I remember running into them in Australia, one of my friends had unfortunately purchased their software.

Avoid it. Save yourself the money. I think their tactics are that people think it must be good because it is so expensive.

my god.
no wonder they don't put the price in the mailshot.
I was guessing in the hundreds. !

Thanks all for the advice. I received their brochure and been cold called several times. It's sounded very convincing and I was almost persuaded. This em thread was just in the nick of time.

I'll file it under the "Too good to be true".

if it sounds too good to be true, it almost always is.

if someone is selling a trading system, the onus has to be on them to PROVE IT WORKS under realistic and duplicatable conditions.

That means you want to see statements, or get a free trial so you can test it walking forward for yourself. MCI offer neither - if you buy it and it doesnt do what they say then you're the monkey and they are £6k richer... never mind how much extra money you could stand to lose in the markets from their stuff

P.G TIP
SHOULD I pay around £3,000 for Star Trader stock market software from MCI Technologies, asks Narinder Singh of Oadby, Leicester.

In a word, No.

MCI testimonials include boasts such as "£1,500 per week" and "146 per cent profit", but if anyone really knew how to make a fortune from share dealing, they wouldn't flog the secret for a few thousand pounds.

If you hand over three grand and later decide you want it back, you might have a problem - despite claiming an address in Oxford Street, London, the two directors of MCI live in Queensland, Australia.

And a really great review by an australian columnist here:

I asked for a free trial and they said "no can do". The other thing they were evasive about is the opportunities re-selling the software in case I didn't like it. "Put it on e-bay" was the saleman's recommendation.

Squashed tomatoes.....

Nice review by the Aussie columnist........and nice to see MCI getting a good panning in this thread. These rogues should be run out of town

my wife recieved a very abusive phone call after i failed to keep an appointment for a phone demo.
