Monitoring the market when away from your desk

Hi all,

I was after feedback on how people automate trading and keep on-top of the market when not sitting in-front of monitors 100% of the time.

I'm an ex sell-side equities trader, and as I'm now no longer glued to my monitors all day, I don't feel particularly comfortable trading PA as I feel i'm not as informed as I once was. Tbh, this is something that was frustrating at work also - as I'm sure you know, even with eyes glued to screens there are always things that are missed.

I started building a work-flow product to monitor the market and notify me, or take some pre-defined action. I'm not trying to promote it (it's not ready for anyone other than me to play with), I just wanted to know if this problem affected anyone other than me? Triggered - Home

Thanks,
Nisha

That sounds like the Program trading. Rely on some trigger to buy or sell. There's already some software can do this. You can have a google.

Almost all chart apps / platforms have alerts which can be set to be sent to your phone / email. There's commonly a function which allows for automated triggers if for instance a setup occurs when you're out it will trade it for you.

So it looks like you're trying to reinvent the wheel, but I am sure you already knew this.

yeah did you not know theres a program we are all running that just makes money all day, every day automatically ? PM me for details.... need to go now to fill up my ferrari....

with tablets and smartphones today, and alerts you can set up in your trading account I feel this is unnecessary, but then again, what do I know ? :)))))))))
