Hi folks. I am looking for advice on which software tool to purchase. I have a full time job, and swing trade on the side in my 401K. I have been successful for a few years just "eye-balling" certain stock moves up and down. I am intersted in expanding my trading horions using trend and technical analysis. Which software do you recommend? Is there software preprogramed that will effectively identify "hammers" , "breakouts" or line crossing trends? thanks.....

hi! you can open demo account on any trading platform and evaluate technical abilities of them. for example, there are a huge amount of technical tools in metatrader and protrader. as for me, protrader is more convenient. by the way, you can download it from official site - Homepage | protrader.net

i hope, it will help.

:) have you already tried something?

Your brain is the best identification tool - for beginners...

mm.. i can't agree with you. it seems to me, for beginners it's better to use analytic tools and only after you can make the decisions by your own.

I completely agree. Analytic tools are easier for beginners. But simultaneous learning technical tools step by step in a must, I think. I tried a couple of platforms. Metatrader has realy great charts with wide range of technical tools. But I finally chose Unitrader - as for me, it's more comfortable and understandable. Here's its homepage - unitrader.com.

You can't win nowadays with "hammers" and "breakouts". These worked 20 yeas ago. People have gotten too sophisticated since then.

Are there any candle indicators that are still effective today?

These researchers couldn't find any edge in using candlesticks for US stock trading:

Market Timing with Candlestick Technical Analysis by Ben Marshall, Martin Young, Lawrence (Larry) Rose :: SSRN

Take a look at the other thread about Price Action Lab. Candlesticks are a very small subset of price patterns and there are possibly hundreds or even thousands of edges in that domain that haven’t been found yet.

You just try this ajaxfinancial.com software for trading. It is a very uncomplicated to use software that gives you the currencies' costs and the tools that you need to evaluate the foreign exchange market and place your purchases. When you start forex trading account with a agent, they provide the dealing foundation too.

Thank you,

Can you advice a newbie on a trading software that has signal providers whom you can follow and copy their trades? I've heard its possible and may be profitable as well without much trying.

None of them, they'll all be useless.

And why do you say that? Have you tried one yourself or just heard rumours that its risky and money will be lost.
